Penny Pincher Tip |
I had a bumper crop on my apple tree this year, which is a good thing considering the price of apples in the grocery stores. I've peeled, cored, sliced and soaked the apples in pineapple juice (cheaper than soaking in lemon juice), and then froze them in vacuum-freezer bags. I plan on using these with pork roasts, pork chops and making scalloped apples and apple sauce. I've also dehydrated 1/4-inch thick apple slices for snacks and made candied apples with melted caramel.
