Like many women, Carol Simpkins learned to cook at her mother's side. "We canned fruits and vegetables and made pies and wonderful upside-down cakes," Carol recalls. "I especially miss her buttermilk biscuits with bacon grease. I know that's not healthy, but boy, were they delicious!
"Since we live in northern California, many of our meals are grilled or barbecued," she adds. "Bob is our barbecue chef."
Carol also prepares pasta—a family favorite—using quality olive oil, balsamic vinegar and fresh vegetables and herbs.
