Peppermint lovers agree Shelly Platten’s scones are just their cup of Yuletide tea at Christmastime.
“I created my recipe when I was looking for a way to use up a box of candy canes,” Shelly explains. “These dark chocolate beauties are perfect for company, and they add a warm note to the breakfast table.
“Remember to use a light touch when mixing and shaping the dough. This gives the scones a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness.”
Living on a hobby farm allows Shelly to raise many of the ingredients she uses to make meals for husband John and their two children. Her jam-packed days include a job at a coffee bistro, work as a freelance portrait artist and volunteering for 4-H, her community and schools. |
