Stay-at-home mom Debi Benson, of Bakersfield, California, has been serving this Chunky Apple Cake for about 8 years. Her father, a retired minister, gave her the recipe.
"I always get asked for the recipe. I think the yummy butterscotch sauce makes it special. It’s really easy to prepare, too," she adds. "I like to use green apples; usually, I buy Granny Smith."
"I also make a Swedish apple pudding similar to apple crisp as well as apple pie, homemade applesauce and a dessert called Yankee Apple John from my grandma."
Debi and husband Steve, who's a locomotive engineer and safety coordinator for a railroad, have five children and five grandchildren. |
