“Everyone loves chocolate chip cookie dough,” wrote Lanita Dedon. That obviously includes our judges, who were sweet on Lanita’s truffles.
Lanita, a stay-at-home mom from Slaughter, Louisiana, admits to having a sweet tooth. She makes candy for Christmas, Easter and any other time she craves a confection, particularly her prize-winning truffles.
“My children brought home the truffles, along with the recipe, from their Bible club as a Christmas gift for my husband, Tommy, and me,” Lanita recalls. “I made a few changes, and the recipe quickly became my favorite.”
Lanita home-schools the couple’s three children. But it’s not all work and no play. She and her children stir up plenty of festive fun at Christmastime, making candies and other homemade gifts.
