Meet This Month’s Cookbook Connoisseur...
Gail Ingersoll
When Gail Ingersoll was 13, her mother gave her a gift she still treasures to this day: a cookbook. The cookbook is special in a very personal way. “She has little notes on different recipes for me,” Gail says. “I love that.”
Those notes even inspired a new tradition. “Because I always love reading Mom’s little snippets of information, I started my granddaughter with cookbooks when she was three years old,” Gail says. “I have a few things written in my hand in her books, too.”
Cooking is a real family affair for Gail. “I have the electric mixer that belonged to my grandmother,” she explains. “It is in perfect condition and I still use it. My granddaughter loves using her Great Great Grandmother's mixer when she cooks!”
Her favorite recipe comes from Taste of Home Annual Recipes 2010: Zesty Marinated Pork Chops. According to Gail, “These are easy to fix, but give your guests the idea you spent hours in the kitchen for them!”
With a collection of more than 100 cookbooks, some purchased on her family’s travels, Gail is hard-pressed to name a favorite. She loves cookbooks with delicious-looking pictures and recipes that use ingredients she usually has on hand. “And I love my Holiday cookbooks,” she says, “since everyone always comes to our house for the holidays!”
