Featured recipe:
Prize-Winning Sunday Chicken Stew
I love this recipe because I can prepare the veggies the night before and, in the morning, brown the chicken and assemble everything in the slow cooker before I go to church. I can spend time with my family while Sunday dinner cooks.

Meet This Issue’s Cookbook Connoisseur…
Tami Pet
Tami Pet (Northern California) loves reading cookbooks…and it’s a good thing! She owns close to a thousand! Luckily she married a carpenter, so every time she runs out of room on her shelves, he just builds her more!
Tami’s interest in recipes started early, although she didn’t always collect cookbooks. At 16, she started by cutting out recipes from the backs of boxes, taping them to 3x5 cards, and storing them in recipe boxes her mother found for her at garage sales.
Next she went with recipes from magazines…and finally to cookbooks. Now she enjoys looking for "vintage" cookbooks at thrift stores. Tami says, “You won't believe the finds!”
According to her, “There are many old cookbooks that should be brought back because I think true cookbook connoisseurs would love to get to know cooks from the past…and discover the cooking styles they used that may be pertinent today.”
Of course, Tami confesses her most enjoyable part of cookbook collecting is opening a crisp new cookbook from the mail (mostly Taste of Home cookbooks—a whopping 90%). Tami says, “It's like getting a birthday present once (or twice) a month!”
When asked to pick a favorite cookbook, Tami says, “Not a fair question!” She claims that would be like naming your favorite child. She could, however, name one of her favorite recipes.
“I loved loved loved the Berry Tiramisu Cake. I shared the recipe with my sisters and they loved it too!”
