Featured recipe:
Taco Meatball Ring
While it looks complicated, this attractive meatball-filled ring is really very easy to assemble. My family loves tacos, and we find that the crescent roll dough is a nice change from the usual tortilla shells or chips. There are never any leftovers when I serve this at a meal or as a party appetizer!

Gourmet Garden Tomato Salad
I came up with this invigorating salad at our weekly pool gatherings with friends. Each of us brings our own meat to grill and a side to share. This dish was definitely a hit.

She Put Her Cookbooks to a “Smart” Use!
Renee Klevenhagen is running out of room to keep her cookbook collection! “I have well over 100 books, and I store them wherever I can,” she writes from Slatedale, Pennsylvania.
“I have a unique table that holds about 30 books, so I rotate the cookbooks in that stand when I am ready to change things up in the kitchen,” she shares. I also store them in my china cabinet, on the coffee table and even under my bed.” Renee explains that many of her seasonal cookbooks are packed up with holiday decorations. This way, when she decorates for a holiday, applicable cookbooks are at hand.
“I have so many stories about my collection, but my favorite memory was home-schooling my sons and using the books to plan meals for the week,” says Renee. “ It was a great way to teach them math, science, home economics and even social studies.” Renee must have also instilled some culinary interest because her oldest son is training to become a chef.
One of Renee’s favorite cookbooks is 2001 Taste of Home Annual Recipes. “Honestly, I think I’ve tried just about every recipe in that book,” she notes. When I have surprise guests, when I don't have time to cook or when I don’t have much money to spend on ingredients, this is the book I use.
“When asked about favorite recipes, Renee has a quick answer.
“Melt-in-Your-Mouth Pecan Rolls and Breaded Turkey Rolls are staples,” she says. “Give them a try, and I bet your family likes them just as much as mine.”
