Wouldn’t it be fun to help judge the baked goods or other food entries at a county or state fair? That question popped into my head as I was proofreading the Blue Ribbon Recipes feature in your Aug/Sept magazine. It’s in the mail now—you may have already received it and tried one of the award-winning recipes that readers shared.

Speaking of winners, local recipe contests were part of the fun when Editor in Chief Catherine Cassidy visited bookstores nationwide to launch our big new Taste of Home Cookbook. Catherine invited cooks in each area to bring in their best recipes for a friendly, informal competition. Tasting all these goodies—and personally meeting the contestants—was a highlight of her travels!
