It’s that time of year when I want to stay indoors on the weekends and do some baking. It not only gives the house a wonderful aroma but makes the kitchen toasty warm as well!

I decided a few months ago that this winter I was going to perfect my yeast baking. I started with a classic Taste of Homesoup recipe for Whole Wheat Dinner Rolls, which were a big hit at both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. My sister noted that they don’t even need butter; they freeze well, too. Now, I am eager to try the easy French Loaves (p. 38) in the Feb/March issue. Just think how tasty a slice or two will be with a steaming bowl of soup. Sheer comfort!

This new issue is loaded with comforting recipes your family will really warm up to…from quick, hearty soups to a nourishing Easy Chicken Potpie and fun-to-make monkey bread. And wait till you try our delicious twists on that old favorite, mac & cheese. There are so many wonderful recipes to try in the Feb/March issue that you might not leave the house all winter!
