Pumpkin Creme BruleeThe holidays are here! Are you ready? Luckily, I was able to take a couple days off for some shopping and cookie baking and candy making. One of my favorite recipes is Candy Cane Cookies (Dec/Jan, p. 56)

I haven’t made them in a while and twisting these tender cookies into shape was so much fun. Preparing the pans of Triple Chocolate Fudge (p. 62) brought back sweet memories of my mom making her creamy fudge every Christmas. I couldn’t wait to get the first square!

The Dec/Jan issue is full of fabulous menu ideas for Christmas and New Year’s as well. I host an annual New Year’s Eve get-together and usually set up an appetizer buffet. I can’t wait to serve the crispy Onion, Garlic & Brie Bruschetta (p. 17) among other things. But if you like your appetizers spicy, go for Hot Wing Dip (p. 26) or Sweet-Hot Spiced Nuts (p. 31). They’re sure to kick up some fun at your party.

Speaking of holidays, watch for our festive Dec/Jan issue coming your way soon. It’s brimming with holiday delights from contest-winning cute candy houses and cakes to mouth-watering roasts and savory party appetizers . And you won’t want to miss our all-time favorite Christmas cookies (p. 53). Yum!
