Dear NAME_FIRST,
How is it already 2018?! It’s hard to believe we’re already welcoming a new year, but I’m so excited to start fresh with another 12 months of adventures. I’m usually not a resolution-type gal, but around this time I always find myself dreaming about how I’d like to spend the next year—maybe I’ll travel someplace I’ve never been (is this the year I finally visit the home of my ancestors in Scandinavia?), take a dance class that puts me out of my comfort zone, or try my hand at a few new recipes to share with my friends and family in the months ahead. Who knows? A fresh calendar means there’s lots of blank space ahead to fill with something new.

If you’re looking to change things up this year, too, you might want to start with the recipes in our current issues of Taste of Home and Simple & Delicious magazines. I’ve picked a few of my favorites to share—they’re a little bit comfy, a little bit good-for-you, and all absolutely keepers to come back to again and again. I hope they’ll fill your homes with happiness in the coming year.

Here’s to new beginnings,

Emily Tyra, Editor

My Favorite Recipes to Make in January
13x9 Everything Recipe Contest

Your go-to pan can do it all, and we want to see the irresistible recipes that make the 13x9 the one you turn to again and again. Kick off the day with broccoli-Swiss quiche for a crowd, brunchy bacon enchiladas verdes and cranberry pumpkin coffee cake. Bake up main dishes like chicken fajita bubble bread, lasagna Bolognese, pierogi-kielbasa casserole and smoky pork ribs over corn bread dressing. And square things off with super sides like scalloped butternut squash, layered three-bean salad and pull-apart sweet potato rolls. Of course, 13x9s do dessert right, too. Think cereal treats, rich browned butter pistachio blondies, maple-pecan baklava and caramel-apple icebox dessert. If it all comes together in a 13x9, dish by January 25th.
