Dear NAME_FIRST, |
I seriously can’t believe it’s already August. This summer has flown by, and—just like every year—once August rolls around I find myself hurrying to squeeze in every last drop of sunshiny fun before fall sets in. For me, that means afternoon pontoon cruises with friends, splashing in Lake Michigan with my pups and about as much sweet corn, watermelon and tomatoes as I can sneak in on every sunny day.
Thankfully this month’s issues of Taste of Home and Simple & Delicious don’t skimp on recipes loaded with the fruits and veggies I go wild for this time of year. I’m talking grilled pizza piled with fresh garden goodies, slushy granita with a bright hint of honeydew, corn dip with creamy avocado and a jalapeno kick, and a whole crop of fresh recipes that should make me a regular at the farmers market through the end of the season. I hope they’ll inspire you to whip up some homegrown goodness of your own, then kick back and devour every last moment of summer you can.

Keep the good vibes going, |

Summer Sides Recipe Contest |
We’re filling up on sides. What’s your summer potluck standout? Please pass your ramen salad with mandarins and edamame, creamy apricot Jell-O mold or limey cilantro-carrot slaw. Fire up a slow cooker for spicy black-eyed peas, herb-buttered corn on the cob or gooey zucchini gratin. And don’t forget the grill! Sizzle honey-glazed sweet potato planks, sear romaine for a smoky salad, or toss garlicky green beans in your grill basket. If you’ve got a side dish that sings summer, send it our way by September 8th! |
