Baked Apple
Slices Satisfy

For
old-fashioned harvest flavor, nothing beats warm,
tender baked apple slices over ice cream. This recipe
gives a new twist to traditional baked apples--the
slices are also excellent served over waffles or with ham.
Make sure to save room for dessert when this is the
featured finale! |

Baked Apple Slices
3 large baking apples, peeled and sliced
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 cup apple cider
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup walnuts or raisins
Vanilla ice cream
Place
apples in a greased 1-qt. baking dish. Combine sugar,
cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and apple cider; pour over apples.
Dot with butter. Sprinkle with nuts or raisins. Bake,
uncovered, at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes or until apples
are tender. Serve warm over ice cream. Yield: 4
servings. |

sensible ways to conserve energy while washing dishes:
Presoak
especially difficult cooked-on soils.
Scrape
away food residues and heavy grease.
Wash
lightly soiled items first and more heavily
soiled items later. Change the washing solution when it
cools down or becomes greasy or dirty.
Use
a sink or dishpan of hot suds rather than
washing under running water, even for a few dishes.
Rinse
by dipping each item in a pan of hot water,
or by racking dishes and spray-rinsing. Avoid running hot
water continuously for rinsing.
Accumulate
dishes, rather than running hot water for
just a few items.
