This is one of my go-to holiday recipes. My family enjoys the buttery squash, crunchy almonds and tangy cranberry sauce. I'm hungry just thinking of it!

Dear ##firstname[Friend]##,

Happy Holidays! Sometimes, at the start of December, it feels as though I'm starting a month-long marathon. Along the way, I know there will be special meals to plan and shop for; presents to buy, wrap and hand out; cards to send; and decorations to put up. I have cookies to bake and potluck parties to attend (and contribute to). And of course, in between the big meals, we need some simple warm recipes to keep us in the holiday spirit. But, in my vision, I make it through each twist and turn unscathed and eager for whatever comes along next. (What can I say, I'm a true optimist!)

As I think ahead to the finish line, I have a happy mental image to keep me going: After we visit both families on Christmas day and celebrate time with our family, my husband and I head home to sit in front of our beautiful tree. We sip hot cocoa and munch on cookies as we open presents from each other. I love everything about Christmas, but the moment at the end of the day is always special.

What are some of the biggest holiday twists and turns you face and what keeps you going? We'd love to hear your stories at simple@tasteofhome.com, facebook.com/simpleanddelicious or our new Twitter page at twitter.com/SandDmag. The S&D team and I can't wait to see what you have to say, and we wish you a joyous, hassle-free holiday season!

—Mary
