Happy Fall! I always look forward to October because Halloween's right around the corner. When the weather's warm, I invite friends and family over for a party on my driveway. We whip up snacks and take turns handing out candy to all the ghosts, goblins and ghouls who stop by.

As the weather turns cooler, I'm looking forward to making some hearty slow cooker dishes and casseroles, too. I like to fix a big-batch recipe on the weekend so we can enjoy leftovers all week. (Speaking of which, check out our Ultimate Potluck Recipe Contest to see how your big-batch recipe could win big!)

This autumn my husband and I also plan to make a few pies from scratch. The easy apple and pumpkin pie recipes featured this month will be a great source of inspiration…and maybe a little competition between us!
