Hello Field Editors,

Well, my friends, we’ve come to the end of another year together. We’ve accomplished so much and grown a lot as a team. You never cease to amaze me. Can you believe we’ve submitted XXX recipes this year? Even more exciting, XXX of them made it into the pages of one of our publications. Give yourselves a huge round of applause! You’re truly amazing.

Our time together on Facebook has become something many of us look forward to. Not only have we shared ideas and definitely a few laughs, but many of us have become like family. I can’t wait to see what next year brings. If you’re not a member yet, send me the email address you use with your Facebook account so you can join us in the fun.

Let’s make 2017 a year of overcoming. We’ll overcome some of our culinary fears and break out of a rut or two. For me, ending up in the menu rut is a regular occurrence. Pasta Mondays, taco Tuesdays, etc. Over the last couple years, Jolene and Ellen have been challenging themselves to make 52 new recipes a year. I’ve decided to follow their lead in 2017, and I hope you’ll join us. It sounds a bit overwhelming, but I tend to make three or four new recipes at a time—so I bet this goal won’t be too hard to meet.

Your second challenge is to complete this sentence: "I’ve always struggled to make [blank], but this year I vow to master it." What recipe or dish do you struggle with? Pie crust? Biscuits? Gravy without lumps? Tell me what it is and we’ll try to master it together. I can’t wait to compare notes.

Because it’s the end of the year, it’s time to review and update your contributor information. Please take a minute to do the following:
  1. Email a recent picture of your beautiful face to fieldeditors@tasteofhome.com. (I’m missing photos from many of you!) We’d love to see a nice, close shot of you smiling proudly.
  2. Have you moved this year? If so, take a minute to update your email and mailing addresses here.
  3. Go to our Facebook group and tell us about the best Taste of Home recipe you tried this year.
  4. Lastly—and most importantly—give yourself a big hug from me! This group has made me unbelievably proud to be your leader again this year.

Merry Christmas, my friends! Wishing the most joyous New Year possible.

Sue
