Hello, fellow Field Editors!
Happy New Year!!!! How was your Christmas? Was Santa good to you? He DID call me to check up on a few of you (you know who you are) but rest assured, I gave you all a stellar report.
Did you enjoy delicious foodie treats over the holidays? What was the neatest, most unique treat you saw this season (even if you didn’t get to taste it)? Pop into Cook’s Corner and join the conversation.
Quite honestly, I think I’m still full from all the wonderful dishes. I haven’t even attempted to get on the scale;, I think I’ll wait a few weeks and eat some salads first. Speaking of salads, anyone else working on lighter recipes these days? Simple & Delicious is looking for some good-for-you grub. They want recipes that don’t weigh you down—recipes loaded with veggies, grab-and-go healthy breakfasts, lunches that won’t trigger your nap gene. Put your thinking caps on and submit to the Healthy New Year recipe call- out here.
Were you able to play along with our Facebook Virtual Cookie Swap event? I don’t know about you but I was amazed at how fast 2 hours flew by. We’re hoping to host more of those in the future and I’d love to set some private sessions up just for you. Is that something you think you’d be interested in? You’d need to be part of our Facebook group to participate. I know that will disappoint some of you but unfortunately it’s the best way at this time for us to interact.
This year I’m planning some recipe brainstorming sessions; we’ll get together online and kick around ideas. More contests and random drawings to get you some fun goodies. Also, rewards for random acts of Field Editor greatness! If we catch you doing something outstanding for the Taste of Home brand you might find a special treat in your mailbox. How will you score? It could be a fantastic recipe review, or maybe you go out of your way to help one of our online readers with a recipe or cooking problem, or we might find you sharing a bit of Taste of Hominess in your hometown! You never know when something will catch our eye, just for being the awesome Field Editor you are.
In the meantime, I better get on the treadmill and work off some of those Christmas cookies.
Happy cooking, my friends!

Topic 1:
Chocolate for Breakfast |
 |
Is there ever a time to say no to chocolate? We don’t think so! We’re looking for your best chocolate creations to serve at the breakfast table. Chocolate scones with a bit of bacon, oatmeal that delights with cocoa and almonds, cinnamon rolls dotted with chocolate chips, maybe even a frothy mocha smoothie. Let your imagination run wild and then submit your recipe here.

Topic 2: Soup & Bread Combos |
 |
No shortcuts here, give us your best from scratch soups or breads (or both). We know that nothing goes with a hot bowl of soup like a warm piece of bread. Whether it’s cornbread and chili or garlic sticks and pasta fagioli, give us your most requested versions here.
