August is county fair time here. Ours is a small, agricultural-based fair with all kinds of animals, garden treasures and crafts. Proud cooks enter their very best for a chance at a blue ribbon. This year I’ve been asked to judge the home-canned goods category — I can’t wait! Have you ever entered anything in the fair? Tell us about it in this thread in the Taste of Home online community.

Oh hey! You probably want to know who won the Dinner Do-Overs recipe contest we held in July, don’t you? Well, Susie Field Editor was our big winner! Congratulations!! Wait, what? Some of you didn’t know we held a contest?? It was a mid-month brainstorm posted in the Field Editor forum on Community and in the super-secret Field Editor group on Facebook. Make sure you join one of them and check in regularly so you don’t miss out on the fun.

Have you seen the new Simple & Delicious makeover?

Our editors took all the wonderful features we love, added more pages and a few more recipes, and then worked a little magic to shrink it down to a fun grab-and-go size. Perfect to take anywhere you’re going. So far my copy has been to the grocery store, to the school and to the doctor’s office. Best news of all? It’s available on newsstands. Isn’t that great? A few Field Editors (me included) held our very own launch party to celebrate. We served up recipes from the new magazine to share with friends.
