Hello Field Editors!

Can you believe September is already here? It makes us think of school days, football games, tailgating, and apples and pumpkins galore. And as much as we love to grill on warm summer afternoons, at Taste of Home we’re ready to switch gears and turn to hearty pot roasts and warming soups and stews for cooler days. Check out our Get Cookin’ topic for cool weather fare, below, and send in your favorite recipes featuring the season’s best produce and dinner ideas.

Fall Cooking School season has arrived, too. Look at the schedule to find an event near you. If you plan to attend a show or would like to be more involved in your local show, please reach out to Annie Rundle for more information.

Our tasteofhome.com Community Manager, Sue Stetzel, has pulled together a quick video that takes you through the simple steps of submitting a recipe. Take a look at the Get Cookin’ topics below, then watch the video and submit your recipes. If you submit a recipe to each of the three topics by Sept. 30, 2014, we’ll enter your name in a random drawing for a surprise. Watch for an upcoming post in the Field Editor Forum; we'll want you to let us know when you’ve submitted recipes so that we can keep track and consider your recipe for publication.

Meet Kristin Stone!

TOH: What's your favorite part of being a Field Editor?
KS: Being a part of Taste of Home is like being a part of a huge community of cooks. I love sharing and rating recipes, exchanging ideas and trying new things.

TOH: Has being a Field Editor changed how you cook in your own kitchen?
KS: My mom was a fantastic cook, but growing up it seemed like we ate the same things over and over again. I had a very limited selection of favorite recipes when I got married. Thanks to Taste of Home, I now have tons of ideas. We very rarely repeat recipes, only our absolute favorites, because I'm always finding new and exciting things to try.

TOH: Do you have any tips for your fellow Field Editors?
KS: I like to make myself a checklist every month of the goals I want to reach for my Field Editor role. Having that list helps ensure that I don't let time slip away without accomplishing what I want to do.

TOH: What's your most loved Taste of Home recipe, and why do you love it?
KS: We unanimously agree that Crisp 'n' Tender Corn Waffles are the best. We have yet to find another waffle to beat these! We eat them fairly often, because Saturday is special breakfast day at our house.
