Hello, Field Editors

April showers bring more than just May flowers. May’s the month we start to see the first of many wonderful things pop up in the garden. Fresh peas, herbs and lettuces should be gracing your kitchen soon. We want to hear from you. Visit the Field Editor Forum, vote for which of these tasty treats you look forward to the most, and we’ll toss your name into a hat for a special surprise from the editors at Taste of Home. Come back each week for four weeks for a chance at a new surprise. Checking into the Field Editor Forum regularly is the best way to make sure you're not missing out on all the fun.

Having trouble logging into the forum or have questions about how to participate? Feel free to email Sue Stetzel at sue_stetzel@rd.com and she'll help get you in on the action.

Topic 1:
Homestyle Diner Dishes
Nothing says Americana quite like the old-school treats you’ll find at a diner. From ooey-gooey grilled cheese sandwiches with piles of fries to crunchy fried chicken and tangy coleslaw, everyone has a favorite. Let’s not forget those frothy shakes and fizzy ice cream floats that take us back to simpler days at the nearest diner counter. Have a diner food go-to? It’s time to share your recipes that conjure up great memories and hearty appetites.

Topic 2:
Memorial Day Eats
Summer is just around the corner, and it’s time to kick off grilling season! Seems like we can never get enough barbecued chicken or chops, sticky grilled ribs with your secret sauce, or big, bold sweets perfect for outdoor Memorial Day celebrations. From apps and snacks to mains, drinks and desserts, send in your seriously good recipes that represent all that’s right with warm-weather fare.

Topic 3:
Quick & Light
Dinner in 30 minutes is a goal that most of us like to attempt on busy weeknights. Let’s relax that time limit a bit and see what you come up with in 45 minutes or less, while keeping those dishes on the lighter side. Seasonal fare is what we’re looking for, with ingredients like raspberries, strawberries, asparagus, broccoli, rhubarb and spinach. Time is short for some of these springtime beauties, so be sure to send those recipes along as soon as you can.

Kim Forni

Meet Kim Forni

We're a busy New England family enjoying all the area has to offer, including market-fresh fruits, vegetables and seafood favorites. We regularly forage for wild leeks and fiddlehead ferns in the spring and wild mushrooms in the fall. I would say we belong here!

Like so many of you, I learned to cook from watching my mom in the kitchen—tasting the ingredients, smelling the aromas. I always wanted to be able to cook from scratch just like mom. I now make so many of her recipes, like old-fashioned homemade breads, cookies, cakes, and pies. I also like to take those tried-and-true classics and give them an unexpected twist.
