Meet Ruth Hartunian-Alumbaugh!

When it comes to cooking, I like to think I'm pretty adventurous and love to try new foods and flavors. I share my love of all things food as a volunteer cooking class instructor at the University of Connecticut. My students are from all over the world and, on occasion, my family and I have had the good fortune to visit a few of these students in their home countries.

I'd say that my family's favorite Taste of Home recipe is the Moist Chocolate Cake. I've made it for every special occasion you can think of. It's an easy recipe to double and make into cupcakes so that there's plenty to share with others.

Being a part of the Taste of Home family, sharing recipes, and my love for cooking with others, is a wonderful way for me to honor my mom's memory. I have always loved to cook, a trait I inherited from my mom, who passed away 13 years ago.  By preparing great meals and baking for my family and others, I feel I am carrying on her legacy."
