“When my name was called to have a mammogram, the nurse was bubbling with enthusiasm because she recognized my name from Taste of Home. She was making a quick bread recipe from the issue to give as gifts, and we had a nice conversation.”
—Beverly Sprague, Catonsville, Maryland

“At the hospital where I work, we had a dessert auction, and I made a basket up with about 8 dozen cookies, some wine and a kitchen towel set. One of the nurse supervisors kept telling people that “Cindy is a Field Editor for Taste of Home.” I wish I kept track of how many people came up to me and commented on that. It brightened my day!”
—Cindy Worth, Lapwai, Idaho

“A local pastor saw me at my polling place on election day and said that his cousin from another state had called him because she saw my name and city in Taste of Home. She asked him if he knew me, and he said “yes.” He couldn’t wait to tell me that I was “famous” in Kansas as well as Missouri.”
—Debbie Johnson, Centertown, Missouri

FIELD EDITOR FUN

Eunice Stoen of Decorah, Iowa, recently taught a class on baking lefse for the Hesper Helpers 4-H Club. Lefse is a thin Norwegian bread made with potatoes. “We used the kitchen at my church, and the kids were really interested. They each took home a copy of the recipe and a sample of the bread.”
