FIELD EDITOR NEWSLETTER July 25, 2010

Are you making the most of your summer? We’re busier than ever here at the Taste of Home office in Greendale, Wisconsin, but we’re lucky enough to have our Friday afternoons off during the summer and really try to take advantage of them. Hope you’re finding time to relax and enjoy the season, too!

MIX IT UP!

We’re constantly trying to make our Mixing Bowl section more fun and informative for our readers, and we want you to play a role. So don’t forget that you can submit items for these topics at fieldeditors@tasteofhome.com:

GREAT FIND: Do you recommend outstanding places that you’ve visited to family and friends? We want to hear about them: your favorite festivals, restaurants/diners, fresh food markets, bed and breakfasts, and other food-related stops.  Please put “Great Find” on the subject line of E-mails.

COOKING TRIUMPHCOOKING TRIUMPH: If you are proud of one of your cooking triumphs, tell us about it. If we publish it in Mixing Bowl, you’ll receive a handmade chef hat with the Taste of Home logo, courtesy of Missouri Field Editor Virginia Watson. Please put “Triumph” on the subject line.

SMALL MORSELS: This was a favorite feature in the early days of Taste of Home, and we’re bringing it back! Kids say the darndest things, and we bet yours have, too. Send us funny food quips that have come from the mouths of your little ones. Please put “Morsels” on the subject line.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS

Have you been recognized in public as a Taste of Home Field Editor? We want to hear your stories. You might even be selected for the Field Editor Spotlight in Taste of Home magazine. Here is a sample “encounter” from Nancy Piano of Nevada City, California:

“My husband and I are on a planning committee for the Nevada County Italian Festival. When we went to a meeting in May, a woman ran over to me and asked if I was a Field Editor for Taste of Home. I proudly said, 'Why yes, I am. How did you know?'

"She told me that when she gets her magazine, the first page she flips to is always the Field Editor listings, hoping to find someone from our community. She saw my name and wondered if it was me, and of course, it was. I felt like a celebrity!”

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

You are important to us, so please stay involved. We keep track of how often you submit recipes and other items, and how often you post in the Field Editor Forum (and other Taste of Home forums). But you need to let us know about the things you’re doing in your community to spread the word about Taste of Home, such as conducting cooking classes or demonstrations, talking to local women’s groups, appearing on television or in the newspaper. So stay in touch!

That's it for this month. See you in August.
