FUTURE FOOD TOPICSMemorial Day weekend is just a few days away, and for many of us, that signals the beginning of summer. We’ve included some mouthwatering grilled foods in our June/July issue as well as scrumptious summer salads and, for those 90-degree days, some yummy frozen treats to make in your ice cream machine. Have fun!

WE WANT YOUR RECIPES!

Do you celebrate your heritage at Christmastime? We would love to receive those treasured recipes you include on your holiday menu that have been handed down from generation to generation. Make sure to include the recipe’s country of origin or ethnic tradition.

Please E-mail recipes (and any tips to make them) to fieldeditors@tasteofhome.com. Remember to include your name, phone number and mailing address on each recipe.
Please put “ethnic Christmas” on the subject line of your E-mail. Deadline is Wednesday, June 2.

FONDUEGREAT FINDS: Our Mixing Bowl section at the front of the magazine includes a feature called “Great Find.” It focuses on wonderful festivals, restaurants, markets and other food-related stops people find during their travels.

Currently, we’re looking for top-notch Octoberfests, food-related summer festivals and highly recommended barbecue restaurants. So won’t you drop us a line and tell us about your favorites and what you like about them? Send to fieldeditors@tasteofhome.com. Please put “Great Finds” on the subject line of your E-mail.

STATE FAIRS

Taste of Home and state fairs seem to go hand in hand, don’t they? Well, we’d love to be able to promote Taste of Home at state fairs around the country. So this summer, we’ll be collecting information in hopes of launching a program next year.

That’s where you come in. If you’ve been involved in your state fair and can share information about the annual event, we’d like to hear from you. Please tell us:
* When your state fair is held each year
* If there’s a Web site we can access
* If you’d be interested in taking part in any promotions we might do at the fair
* Any other pertinent information you might have

Right now, this is only a fact-finding mission. But if and when we launch a program, we’ll let you know right away.

FIELD EDITOR FUN

Have you held a class, appeared on local television, spoke at an event or promoted Taste of Home some other way in your community? Please let us know about it!

* On May 15, Julie Butler of Puyallup, Washington appeared on Seattle’s PBS television station, KCTS. Julie and a dozen or so other cooks were selected from 300 entrants to each prepare a recipe on “KCTS Channel 9 Cooks Light & Healthy,” one of the station’s pledge drive programs. A local chef assisted Julie in making her one-pot meal, Italian Fish Soup.

COOKS WHO CARE UPDATE

Country ToursA couple issues ago, we asked you to share stories about how you or someone you know helps a charity or cause through cooking. Here’s a good reason to send in your story, if you haven’t already: Beginning with the Aug/Sept issue, Taste of Home will donate $250 to each charity or nonprofit organization featured on the “Cooks Who Care” page. It’s a great way for us to give back…and we know the money will go to good use.

To read some of the inspirational stories we’ve published, visit http://www.tasteofhome.com/Community/Cooks-Who-Care. Then send your story to fieldeditors@tasteofhome.com. Please write “Cooks Who Care” on the subject line.
