FIELD EDITOR NEWSLETTER | August 25, 2009 |
Dear ##firstname[Friend]##, Where has the summer gone? Here we are on the doorstep of September, and many of us at Taste of Home are still trying to cram in one more garden project, road trip or backyard barbecue. Meanwhile, the Taste of Home staff is writing about Thanksgiving and testing recipes for the February/March issue! Speaking of Thanksgiving, the October/November issue is still a month away, but wait till you see the scrumptious holiday dishes we've lined up...including two ways to prepare your turkey and some of the best cheesecakes you'll ever taste! AND THE WINNERS ARE… Hope those of you who participated in our first on-line Scavenger Hunt had fun finding the hidden millipede. Names of those who found the plastic bug in one of our food photos were put in a basket, and five winners were drawn. They are Ellen Folkman, Paulette Gehrke, Debbie Johnson, Susan Stetzel and Rachelle Stratton. We'll be mailing them one of Taste of Home's specialty cookbooks. Watch for another hunt in the future! The fall "semester" of the Taste of Home Cooking Schools and Taste of Home Cooking Schools Made Easy begins soon. If you live near one of the cities hosting a cooking school show, you might be contacted by Program Director Michelle Goggins to see if you'd like to help out backstage...and on stage! To see if a Cooking School is coming to your neck of the woods, visit www.tasteofhome.com/Cooking-Schools/Find-a-Class. The popular Taste of Home Cookbook has sold over 1 million copies. Next month, the third edition of the book—the “Cooks Who Care” edition—hits store shelves, and we'll be making appearances across the country to show off the new cookbook. As I started to spell my last name, the woman on the phone said, "Oh, I know how to spell it. You're in Taste of Home magazine." —Marsha Ransom, South Haven, MI ![]() Ruth Hartunian- Alumbaugh "I was visiting friends in Stamford, CT and went to church with them one Sunday. One of the young ladies I was sitting with during refreshments after the service thought I looked familiar. After some discussion, we found that she remembered me from the ‘Cooks Who Care’ story in the April May issue of Taste of Home." —Ruth Hartunian-Alumbaugh, Willimantic, CT That’s it for now. See you next month! Barbara Schuetz, Managing Editor |
