Can you believe it’s almost July? We don’t know about you, but the summer seems to be flying by! So hope you’re finding time to enjoy your deck, patio, garden and all the good food that comes with the season! We also hope you’ll find some time to devote to Taste of Home, whether it’s trying a new recipe, submitting a few of your favorite dishes, chatting with other field editors and readers in our community forums, or talking up the magazine and Web site in your area. MarineMom is Joan Hallford of North Richland Hills, TX. She and other Texas field editors have been meeting for lunch for the past five or six years. The group’s most recent get-together was in May. We can help you get in touch with other field editors by including something in this newsletter—a good way to contact field editors in your area who might not have Internet access. visit her blog: http://community.tasteofhome.com/blogs/marinemom_texas/archive/2009/06/02/taste-of-home-luncheon-may-30-2009.aspx?pmcode=##keycode## ----------------- SPREADING THE WORD Field Editor Tami Kuehl of Loup City, NE recently spoke to her local PEO chapter about Taste of Home and its sister magazine, Healthy Cooking. “At every month’s business meeting, we have an educational presentation, and I decided to promote the magazines when it was my turn to give the program,” Tami writes. “I talked about my role as a field editor and shared copies of the TOH home page on the Web.” PEO is a philanthropic educational organization that promotes excellence in women. ----------------- BACKSTAGE PASS Helen Phillips of Horseheads, NY got the opportunity to help out at a Taste of Home Cooking School in April. “I was asked to work backstage, which I have done in the past, and also was invited to help (culinary specialist) Dawn Tyson-Silvera make a fruit tart recipe on stage. I was so pleased!” she says. ------------------- MORE FIELD EDITOR FUN Sue Greenall of West Windsor, VT has recently published a local foods cookbook. “It was inspired, in part, by Michelle Obama putting in a garden at the White House,” Sue writes. “I worked on the cookbook for over a year, testing and developing recipes as foods came into season.” To check it out, visit www.tasteofhome.com/links “I recently was honored to make candy for our church’s charge conference in Shippensburg, PA,” writes Darla Germaux. “I made bonbons, chocolate-covered walnuts and peanut butter creams.
