What would happen if we all looked for ways to use gardening to improve the world around us? In the upcoming April/May issue, that’s exactly what I’m challenging you to do (look for the story soon on page 30). As part of our Go Garden! special issue, you’ll read stories of fellow readers who have used their green thumbs to inspire others to garden, or have turned to gardening to better their communities.
If you want to join in this effort, but aren’t sure where to start, I recently learned of a gardening service initiative through a group called Project Evergreen—and they’re looking for volunteers!
Their program, GreenCare for Troops, helps military families across the country by assisting them with yard and garden work while one spouse is away from home serving our country. If you’re interested in helping with GreenCare for Troops, visit the Project Evergreen Web site.
I hope our April/May issue will give you plenty of ideas to share gardening and nature with others. Here are few additional stories to inspire you.
